How the Program Works:
- Children ages 3 to 12 can register for the summer reading program. Bring all the children at one time. They are divided up into age groups, 3&4 yr olds, 5&6 yr olds, 7&8 yr olds, and 9& older. Signs will be posted to let you know where each group will meet. In their own groups children will enjoy stories being read, finger plays, songs, activities, and crafts.
- You may register for the reading programs any time after May 11th. Registration is available online, by telephone, or at the library. Due to space constraints class sizes are limited. The fee for this eight week program is $5.00 with a valid PGCL card. Choose a time and day to attend: Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday at 10:00 am, 11:30 am, or 1:00 pm. Classes are approximately 40 minutes.
- After you have signed up for a time and paid the fee, you’ll receive the first reading game board to record the minutes you read during the first week of summer and some fun activities to do. You will receive a new gameboard each week. Keep these in a safe place to turn them in for a book backpack prize.
- Sign a reading contract with the librarian once you decide how many minutes you plan to read each day. Be creative and spend 20 minutes a day reading!
- The Library offers a variety of programs, give-aways, and contests all summer, so pick up a calendar of events or check the website as often as possible.
- Everyone who completes the program by finishing their contract will be invited to a final party with certificates and rewards.
- Thanks to these local sponsors for providing some of the prizes, Arctic Circle, Daylight Donuts, Del Taco, Domino’s, Hogi Yogi, and Purple Turtle.
