Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Museum
The DUP is an organization consisting of 15 camps in American Fork, Pleasant Grove, the Manila area and Cedar Hills. Each area is overseen by a company. Each camp has 15 to 30 members qualifying as a current member by being a descendent of a pioneer that came into Utah before 1869. Each camp meet monthly from September through May. The company meets three times during the year.
The Utah Timp Valley Company President is: Annette Jeppson (801) 318-1023. She may be contacted by anyone interested in joining a camp in their area. Ten of these camps are in our area and are responsible for the maintenance, tours and the running of our local DUP museaum at 55 South 100 East (across from the city offices).
The museum is open all summer months every Thursday and Saturday 1 p.m to 5 p.m. It is also open during Strawberry Days and the City’s Heritage Festival. Special group or family tours may be arranged by calling Ruth Bezzant at (801) 785-2335. The museum director is Glenna Smith at (801) 899-2074.
New paint, carpet and changes have come to the museum. Come and see the changes and enjoy the heritage of great city and area. Thanks to all those who help support and preserve this building and its artifacts.
"Ever Pressing Forward...Lest We Forget"
EVER PRESSING FORWARD
As she stood beside the mound of snow tears froze on her cheeks as they silently fell from her eyes. How could she go on? Her little son carrying his Father's hat, clasped her hand; "I must be strong", were the words that filled her mind. "Yes, I must go on!" Her husband's grave was the first one at which she had wept since leaving Nauvoo to follow the Prophet. Now, he along with their infant daughter could not go on. She knew that one day all woud be well. But for this moment, how could she go on? How could she not go on, ever pressing forward!
