The City Recorder’s Office is responsible for all City records (current and historical) including the management, classification, maintenance and retention of such records. The Recorder’s Office serves as the central point for the public to obtain information and handles all requests for records in accordance with the Government Records Access Management Act (GRAMA).

The City Recorder and staff serve as a liaison between the City Council and its constituency prepares City Council agendas, keeping account of the official record of all City Council actions, including ordinances, resolutions and minutes.

The City Recorder and staff coordinate and supervise the City’s Municipal Elections and related election activities.

Other duties performed by the Recorder’s Office include, posting of public noticing of meetings, agendas and ordinances, publishing of legal notices, maintain the City Code, countersign all contracts on behalf of the City, administer oaths of office and provide notary services.
